Fine Art & Antique sales

Our Fine Art sales take place every March, July and November. We are currently taking entries for our Fine Art & Antique sale. For information on consigning individual items or collections to a Fine Art sale please call us on 01782 638100 or email auctions@louistaylorfineart.co.uk

Previewing items before an auction

If you’d like to view any auction items to assess their condition before a sale, you can attend a viewing day on the dates advertised for each sale. Our viewing days are generally one or two days before a sale, and then a couple of hours prior to the sale for any last minute assessments if you’re attending the auction in person. If you’re unable to make our viewing days, you can request a condition report on any items you’re interested in. Most photos are shown in the catalogue and on the website, however you can also ask for more photos if needed.

We always do our utmost to check items before they’re offered up at auction, and to then produce descriptions which we believe accurately represent the lot and the condition it is in. However, due to the sheer volume of items that pass through our saleroom on a daily basis, these checks do have to be carried out quickly and neither the check nor the description comes with a guarantee. If you have a serious interest in an item, we strongly recommend that you come and view it for yourself if you’re able, or request a condition report if you’re unable to view it in person. If you do not do either of these things to ensure that you’re happy with the condition of the item beforehand and then go on to win it, we regret that we cannot provide any refunds if you’re dissatisfied with your purchase once you receive it.

Bidding at auction

There are a number of different methods for submitting a bid at auction with Louis Taylor. These include:

  • Telephone bids
  • Bidding online via the-saleroom.com
  • Attending in person
  • Attending a Louis Taylor Fine Art auction in person

If you attend one of our auctions in person and intend to bid, you must first go to the main office and register before you start bidding. Your bids will not be accepted if you haven’t registered with us beforehand. Upon registering, you will be handed a numbered card which will identify you when bidding.

If you win an item, you can go to the main office any time after winning (however please allow a few minutes after winning for us to process your win) to pay for and collect your item. If you’re bidding for a number of items, you can wait until the last lot you’re interested in has gone before going to pay and collect everything if you prefer.
