Probate and Insurance Valuations
We offer professional valuation services which can be used for both probate and insurance purposes.
What is a Probate Valuation?
HMRC advises that if you are the executor of the estate of someone who has passed, valuing the estate is one of the first things you should do. You will need to know the value of the estate in order to complete the probate application forms, and for HMRC to establish whether any inheritance tax is due. We can provide you with written probate valuation reports for household furniture, effects, personal possessions, antiques, fine art, jewellery and specialist collections.
What is an Insurance Valuation?
Insurance valuations provide evidence of title and value in the event of loss or damage. A professionally produced written valuation ensures that you can identify the necessary level of cover required, and that you protect your entitlement to a fitting replacement in the event of any loss and subsequent claim. Many insurance policies do not automatically cover all items of high value, so it’s important that you’re able to produce evidence of a valuation that is both accurate and impartial to keep your most prized possessions protected. Our consultants can provide you with a written insurance valuation, including a detailed description and a current retail replacement value or nearest equivalent.
House Clearances
We offer a complete house clearance service, which can also be coupled with our estate probate services, to help alleviate some of the stress that comes in the event of a loved one passing away. With our full house clearance service, we clear out everything remaining in the house after any personal items or keepsakes have been removed by the family. One of our expert valuers will come along to the property to inspect the contents of the house, and any recyclable items such as paper, cardboard, shoes and clothing that are not suitable for auction or charity will be taken away and recycled. At every stage of the process, we talk through our actions and decisions to make sure that you feel in control throughout. Our valuation team will then remove any particularly valuable items, such as choice pieces of furniture, ceramics, jewellery and watches, and prepare these items for auction.
